In 2010 the team of 20 robotic enthusiasts at Gostai, unveiled Jazz; the first telepresence autonomous robot.

The Jazz line of robots comes in 3 delicious flavors:

Jazz Connect:

takes the idea of your traditional videoconferencing systems and throws it out the window. Jazz Connect robot stands in a remote location and will serve as your personal avatar. It can move and perceive its surrounding with its embedded camera, speaker and microphone, and the user remotely controls Jazz Connect via a web browser from a computer, or a smartphone.

This is called telepresence, as you can easily and remotely take part in a meeting, visit a place and see what is happening in your office or factory in a natural and interactive way, all without leaving the comforts of your home.

The Jazz Connect costs $10,400 (7900 €), and it’s meant specifically to help with business people who can’t always be in every meeting they need to be in.

Jazz Security:

Who doesn’t want your own personal security guard, unfortunately it doesn’t come armed with a firearm, but it does come equippedwith a camera that detects motion and can be controlled by a person via a web-based interface.

Jazz Security also comes with record video capabilities, so while patrolling an area, it can send alerts via SMS or email in case of suspicious activities.

A soon to be added laser range finder will be added to the list of features incorporated into the unit.

The Jazz Security hikes up the price tag, $11,000 (8400 €), and uses different software to make sure that your home (or office) always has a pair of eyes on.

Jazz Icon:

can be remote-controlled with a wireless joy pad or via any web browser, where the image of the camera is displayed. It can be used to enliven stores, fairs or welcome visitors to an office or lobby.

Jazz Icon can tell any message via text-to-speech technology or through a microphone via the web interface. You can pre-record them and activate them randomly when a face is detected, or remote-control them with the push of a button.

Jazz icon can be rented for $2,400 (1800 €) or bought for $10,400 (7900 €).
