Sure the limited-edition sunglass frame designed by Metallica’s frontman James Hetifeld are hela-cool. And it can be yours for just $219 (via Blabbermouth)…but do we really want to hear Lars yakking while we are walking down the street?

The limited-edition Vans x Metallica 20th Anniversary Half Cab Pro is made of all-black, heavy-duty canvas and suede and features lyrics on the side and a clear rubber sole with Kill ‘Em All album artwork. Unfortunately, Vans’ legal department couldn’t authorize using the blood of Metallica’s fallen enemies in the shoe-making process.

Vans will unveil the “Passion Projects” line in January 2013, featuring designs from each band member (including Lars Ulrich’s shoe that plays clips of him speaking with each step).

Sure he talks too much, but Lars rarely sings (here’s a cover of “Am I Evil?” if you’re wondering what he sounds like).

Very similar to plugging in your engine block to keep it warm, designer Alexey Chugunnikov has come with a bizarre solution to keeping your shoes dry and warm.

Much like putting on a warm and toasty pair of underwear straight out of the dryer, Warm Shoestring is a project where shoelaces are made from a specialized fire-resistant material and that plug into an adapter. The adapter regulates the temperature and the string warms up the shoes.

Trust me, this idea is way better than throwing them in the oven.

Using the exoskeletons of marine invertebrates, fantasy creatures and insects as the inspiration for her appropriately named Exoskeleton collection, each of these three prototypes might be considered as sculptural objects to some…but I can think of a few ladies of the night that would die to
have a pair.

So what does this mean for the future of feet? Who knows, but the possibility of one day owning my own 3D printer still blows my mind.
