At the time, the Commodore computer cost $595 and came with a whopping 64 kilobytes of memory. It also contained a graphics and sound card that stood apart from other computers of the day.

Now, nearly 30 years later, the Commodore brand has taken on new management and is re-releasing its flagship computer, this time with all the amenities of a modern-day computer packed inside.

It comes in the original taupe color and design, of course — it’s just everything else that’s changed.

The new iteration of the classic computer won’t run Windows (although the company claims you’ll be able to install it if you so choose). Instead, the Commodore 64 runs a version of the Linux operating system on an Intel processor, and boasts 2GB of memory and a modern Blu-ray or rewritable DVD optical drive.

The past isn’t forgotten, however: The company claims that consumers will be able to lay all their favorite 8-bit era games within seconds of turning the Commodore 64 on, by running software that emulates the original operating system.

It’ll be priced from $250 to $900, and you can even get one with a Blu-ray player in there. I’ll wait for the updated Atari.

In an all out attempt to destroy digital, the Dala record player features unusual sound wings, each one a different size and playing a different frequency. The speakers or “fins” make up the wing-like structure on either side of the platter and incorporate new flat membrane speaker technology.

Every one of these fins is also followed by an acrylic reflector plate which is tapered in three directions, each of these propagating the sound outward and punches directly into your face. Each component has its own dedicated vibration dampening wall mount and suspension to ensure the best possible sound output.

Not just any iPad, designed by luxury mobile phone manufacturer Gresso, this version of the iPad comes framed in 200-year-old African Blackwood, which is said to be the world’s most valuable tree, as well as an 18K pure gold Apple logo.

Of course, the price tag always matches the extravagance your getting your hands on, but then again, that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. The uber luxurious Gresso ‘too rich for my blood’ iPad is expected to go on sale New Years Eve.

Now, a 64-year-old Macallan single-malt whisky bottled in a unique Lalique crystal decanter has been sold for a record-breaking $460,000 (£288,000), to an unnamed woman buyer, at Sotheby’s in New York City on Monday night.

The decanter, crafted by famous French designer Lalique, holds 1.5l of the rare The Macallan whisky, and is now, the new cowboy in town.

The Macallan, founded in 1824, is produced at a distillery near Easter Elchies House in north east Scotland’s Speyside whisky region.
