Who would have thought a little bit of hot water and some crispy dried out noodles would take the world by storm.

What used to be the fuel for that sustained college students has now found its way into everyone’s cupboards across America… Who doesn’t love Ramen noodles? They’re cheap, convenient, and oh sooooo delicious.

The dish originated in China, and was eventually introduced to Japanese by the Meiji era. It quickly became a popular dish there, but it took the invention of the instant noodle in the late 1950s for ramen to achieve its worldwide appreciation.

Mr. Noodle, Momofuku Ando, died early last year at the age of 96…but his legend lives on. Here are some slightly bizarre flavors I wish were available worldwide.

Big Cheese Meat Cup Noodle combines seasoned American pork, cheese, crisp red bell peppers, cabbage and onions with classic curly noodles and a rich soy sauce flavored soup…best of all it’s only 468-calories.

Nissin rolled out this latest addition to their Cup Noodle line on November 28th priced at 190 yen (about $2.45) per cup. You gotta love that ‘cheese head’ mascot.

Seriously why waste your time making a real cheeseburger when you can just add boiling water? Is anybody else geting hungry….YUMMY!
