Annie Ralli puts hands, the unsung heroes in our lives front and center, though, with some unique painting illusions that’ll have you looking twice and maybe scratching your head with.

The hand paintings below are all painted by a talented London-based body painter Annie Ralli. Photographed by Ray Massey.

“Bodypainting is a skill I perfected working with stills photographers,” says Annie, who is also a former BBC scenic artist.

“It is meticulous work, but it has to be carried out at speed, partly because the “cavas” walkas away at the end of the day and partly because paint is less stable on a living, moving base. The work is fun and the results can be beautiful.”

How many shelves are there? Look to the left: four shelves. Look to the right: three shelves. The design is based on the illusion known as the Impossible Fork or Blivet.

Inspired by the famous 2D drawing of the optical illusive bookshelf, the 3D structure can be used for shelving books and iPads as well as hanging magazines or just giving your guest a simple mind freak.

Still confused, so am I. Hopefully you can figure it out by looking at the pictures of the bookshelf from different angles, if that doesn’t help maybe the video will.
