But wait, if stainless steel isn’t your thing, the deluxe model offers a wood-burning stove, you know for that ‘rustic feel’.

The cost: $14,800 at the low-end and $21,300 at the top.

But wait again… Tugtub offers an inflatable variation on the idea. It’s a bit cheaper, clocking in at $11,495 for the two-person model and $17,495 for the top-of-the-line.

It is difficult to believe that FLIP, or Floating Instrument Platform, owned by the US Navy, was designed after a baseball bat.

First launched 50 years ago, the bizarre research vessel can go from a horizontal to vertical position while staying afloat and stable in heavy seas, even in 80-foot waves. That allows it to perform oceanographic research measurements with precision-like accuracy.

A normal ship rolls with storm waves, but FLIP is so stable it is almost immobile. The vessel flips from horizontal to a vertical position by pumping 700 tons of seawater into the ‘handle’ end. Air is then pumped into the opposite end, causing it to rise up out of the sea.

Everything on board is designed to flip along with the ship, including beds, ketchup and other condiments, and even the bathroom sinks…yes even the kitchen sink.

Built by Marine Technology Incorporated, this ZR1-inspired boat (turbocharged ZR-48) is constructed from carbon fiber and features lighting units from the legendary sports car…can be yours for $1.7 million (€1.26).

The entire cockpit area is accented by custom Lumiflex and LED lighting, while the hatches are a custom gull wing type that has built-in escape hatches, just in case you flip over while maxing out the two turbocharged Mercury Racing engines that develop 1350 hp (1007 kW / 1369 PS).

The custom dash has fully function gauges, a custom ZR1 steering wheel and shifter, while the interior is ultra leather and suede, with six air conditioned seats…which is provided by a 24K BTU cruise air marine A/C system.

As for the trailer, well it’s a masterpiece in itself, it’s equipped with a generator, water tank, power washer, engine flush system and five televisions/DVD players. It is designed to tilt in order to make an oversize boat legal to transport on its side, thus not requiring an over width permit to haul.

All that’s missing is a huge Bat emblem on it.

Studio director Rob McPherson at the Derbyshire firm, who also created the Streets of Monaco super-yacht, said: ‘The exterior was designed to give the impression of waves breaking around a volcanic island, whilst maintaining the look of a contemporary yacht design.

The boat – which has yet to hit the market and hasn’t had a price set – is causing waves in the boat building world with its unique design.

As the scooter enters the water, the wheels and the front tire hub are contracted in relation to the depth of the water. The front wheel steering is then converted to an internal propeller system.
