This pitbull was found tied to a post and was presumed to be used as a training animal for fighting dogs or a ‘bait’ dog. He lost his eyes, but not his spirit.

A bad economy does not cause psychopathy… Although one would go through any and all lengths in order to feed ones family, only a very disturbed and lowly excuse for a human being would do this to an animal.

He is still adorable.

Somebody get Dexter the baby duck a strong coffee…Uhm, why is there a duck in the classroom?

A pickup truck owner, in Unalaska, Alaska, parked his vehicle in the Safeway parking lot and went in for some goat milk and milk duds…when will you learn?

[Public Safety Director Jamie] Sunderland says the eagles were feasting on garbage bags of fish product in the bed of a pickup truck. Public Safety contacted the truck owner:

Sunderland: “Who confirmed they did have a bunch of fillets in the car, and they were trying to get rid of it, but there were so many eagles that they were, I think, somewhat alarmed to go near the vehicle, because it was just being swarmed by eagles.”

No one got hurt, and Sunderland says the truck owner wasn’t cited for the incident because the fish didn’t make a mess in the parking lot.

It’s nice to know that the Eagles aren’t as extinct as they are made out to be.

According to the Smithsonian Institution researcher Gary Hevel, one trillion cicadas, which will outnumber humans 20,000-to-1, have begun burrowing their tiny bodies from out the depths of America’s southern soils.

A conservative – we repeat: conservative – estimate touted by several experts puts the ratio of cicadas to humans in the region of North Carolina to Connecticut at 600 to 1. That’s 30 billion cicadas to the area’s 50.6-million people. It is also (we repeat a third time) the lower estimate. According to the Associated Press (emphasis added)

The bugs are mostly harmless to plants and humans. The worst a cicada can do is poke you with its pointy proboscis. But the 90-decibel buzz of a sky-darkening swarm can be a bit unnerving to the unprepared.

The outbreak is expected to start in the Carolinas in April or early May, and work its way up northward to Washington, Philadelphia and New York by early June.

The heartbreaking story of Naki’o begins when he lost his paws and the tip of his tail to frostbite when he was a wee little pup.

Hold on, things get even worse for the poor guy… He was abandoned in a foreclosed home in Nebraska and was found frozen into a puddle of ice water.

Fortunately, he was discovered and adopted by veterinarian assistant Christie Pace of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thanks to her, the wounds healed into stumps. Though the lack of his paws did not seem much of a hurdle for the puppy, trouble began when he grew bigger and Naki’o found himself unable to support his own weight with his stumps.

Pace raised money by setting up a fundraiser, then contacted OrthoPets – a US company that specializes in customizing artificial limbs and orthotic braces for animals – to create prosthetics for Naki’o. When they saw the dog, however, the animal hospital decided to treat him for free.

Awh, such a happy, happy ending.

Conservation biologist Phil and wildlife photographer Jeff were leading a small group of tourists on a recent tour when Phil spotted the insect, a rare yellow-colored caterpillar of the flannel moth, on a leaf and was so struck by its fluffy mane he couldn’t resist taking a photo.

The caterpillar’s “hair” actually consists of setae, which are long, fine silky appendages that, in this case, can cause serious skin irritations. If an unlucky person tries to grab one, they will get a handful of venom, released when the setae poke into skin. Like a bee sting, the injuries can be painful but, for most, are not life threatening.

“We have been leading photo tours together for two years and have never seen anything as strange as this. “

Frankly, I think the comparison is an insult to the caterpillar.
