New Dissolvable Oral Strip Provides Instant Pain Relief – Now you can Shove a Burning Hot Pizza into your Mouth
Instant pain relief from burns…we have had this for years, its called cocaine!
If drugs aren’t your thing, but drinking super hot coffee or eating a burning slice of pizza right out of the oven because you just can’t wait 65 seconds are, then you will be happy to know that the wonderful world of science have developed a dissolvable oral strip which immediately relieves pain from burns caused by the ingestion of hot foods or liquids.
The strip, which is non-toxic is applied directly to the burned part of the tongue, cheek or roof of the mouth. It sticks to the affected area and won’t interfere with normal day-to-day activities, as it quickly dissolves for instant pain relief and promotes healing.
Lead researcher Jason McConville, Ph.D., and colleagues from University of Texas at Austin, designed the strip for controlled delivery of a local anesthetic, benzocaine, and a therapeutic polymer. Benzocaine, commonly used as a topical pain reliever in dental products and throat lozenges, was chosen as for its non-irritating properties.
But wait, researchers are exploring creating a stronger oral strip to treat more severe burns lasting longer than 2-3 days for those days when you just can’t help but drink boiling oil straight out of the fryer.
