Addicted to Heavy Metal, Man gets Disability Pay
Does it seem like the world just keeps getting more bizarre as time goes by? Although this story goes back a few years, it is so so ridiculously awesome that I had to chime in.
I have heard of getting disability pay for being a severe alcoholic (which I am still trying to apply for)…but what about getting paid to listen to heavy metal music?
Meet the luckiest head banger in the world Roger Tullgren, a 42 year-old heavy metal addict from Hässleholm, Swede, who managed to get his ‘bang your head’ lifestyle classified as a disability and therefore able to collect State benefits.
I kid you not! Roger gets paid to grow his hair long, wear skull and crossbones jewelry and flash the sign of the horns everywhere he goes…and gets paid for it!
He does have a job, a part time dishwasher, but the employment service in Sweden is paying part of this guy’s salary ( you know for when he decides to go to concerts) plus his boss hooks him up with special privileges to play his metal at work.
The ageing rocker claims to have attended almost three hundred shows a year, often skipping work in the process.
“I have been trying for ten years to get this classified as a handicap,” Tullgren told The Local. I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against.”
“I signed a form saying: ‘Roger feels compelled to show his heavy metal style. This puts him in a difficult situation on the labour market. Therefore he needs extra financial help’. So now I can turn up at a job interview dressed in my normal clothes and just hand the interviewers this piece of paper,” he said.
UN-FRICKEN-REAL!
