New Audi e-bike has Segway-like Wheelie Mode

An e-bike? Well it was only a matter of time… the Audi e-bike Wörthersee, which was recently presented at Wörthersee in Carinthia, Austria, on May 16, is a prototype cycle combines an electric drive and muscle power that makes it possible to reach speeds up to 50mph – assuming you don’t mind some pedaling — or 31 mph in pure electric mode.

According to the press release, the e-bike comes with a touchscreen on-bike computer that can sync with a rider’s smartphone and features a carbon fiber- reinforced polymer frame and wheels , LED light strips and a Segway-inspired “wheelie mode”.

The lithium-ion battery is incorporated into the frame and needs 2.5 hours to fully charge. On long trial tours, only a few simple steps are required to remove the battery and replace it with a charged one.
