The Bloody British/Zulu War of 1879 Chess Set

Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879, after a brief Wikipedia search – the war is notable for several particularly bloody battles, as well as for being a landmark in the timeline of colonialism in the region.

Taking that piece of history and over 70 hours of work, the British/Zulu War Chess set was conceived. Detailed wood burning is used to decorate the box which is made exclusively from Red Oak with brass handles, hinges and corner trim used to decorate and protect the set.

Each player piece is meticulously crafted with feathers, leather, deer fur, twine, sinew and steel and can be yours for a small fortune of $1,2000 via Etsy.
