Taking Laser Tag to the Extreme – 1 Megawatt DIY Pulse Laser Gun

Clearly not satisfied with the selection of laser tag guns at the local Toys R Us, Patrick Priebe designed a pulse laser gun that would turn your retinas into a burnt piece of bacon if he decided to shoot you in the face.

The gun consists of an actual 1-Megawatt laser, fitted with a pulse head that opens when the gun is “fired.” The gun is capable of emitting powerful, short bursts of focused IR light, enough to burn holes in plastic, thin metals, Styrofoam and even baby ants. The whole thing is about 2 pounds and is about a foot long, and is powered by four lithium-ion high capacity batteries, which will buy you about 50 shots on a full charge.

According to Priebe, each and every part was handmade and took about 70 hours of work. Although this gun has been sold (hopefully not to someone who plans on blinding pilots out of the sky), he will build more if requested.

I have a funny feeling someone is going to get a visit from ATF.
