$500 Grove & MapleXO Recycled Skateboard iPhone 4 case

What do you get when you cut up old skateboards into narrow strips, lay them on their sides, re-glue them back together, then flattened the sheets together? An iPhone 4 case.

Grove, in collaboration with Lindsay Jo Holmes of MapleXO, has five of the iPhone 4 cases left out of a lot of 50 cases. Crafted out of 300 skateboards over a period of one year, project involved the slicing and sanding skateboards into layered strips, which were then hand-selected for colour coordination and glued together to form individual blocks from which the iPhone cases could be cut.

With 50 per cent of the proceeds going to the Oregon Humane Society, they’re all in excess of $200, with a couple in the $500 range now on eBay.
