Ultra-advanced Super-stealth sub powered by fuel cell
What could be argued as a first in modern warfare, Germany has developed a submarine which embodies the concept of ‘green technology’. The first ever U212A submarine is exclusively powered by hydrogen fuel cells, it is almost totally silent, radiates virtually no heat and is constructed entirely from non-magnetic metals.
Calling it “the peak of German submarine technology”, naval shipyard Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft says the ultra-advanced non-nuclear super stealth vessel is the first of its kind to be powered by a revolutionary hydrogen fuel cell that lets it cruise the deep blue without giving off any sound or exhaust heat.
The ’silent assassin’ packs a punch with its 12 heavyweight wire guided torpedoes and is capable of remaining submerged underwater for a much longer period in comparison to conventional subs.
Unfortunately U212A leaves much to be desired in the form of comforts. This state of the art technological watercraft is one of confined living quarters, shared bunks, no pool table or hot tubs.
