George Lucas wants to Reanimate Dead Actors
George Lucas has come up with a morbid idea that just might work. Remember that video with Natalie Cole singing a virtual duet next to her deceased father Nat King Cole.
Well according to Lucas’ friend Mel Smith, George wants to take bring that idea into fruition by “buying up the film rights to dead actors” and reanimating them into future movies using 3D technology.
George has been buying up the film rights to dead actors in the hope of using computer trickery to put them all together, so you’d have Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck alongside today’s stars.
Coming from the Sun Tabloid, this is just about as trustworthy as coming from FOX news, however, this idea has been rumored in Hollywood for a while, but, if true, this would be the first actual news of someone buying “film rights” to dead movie stars.
Bringing dead movie stars back to life in full 3D color on the big screen is a fascinating idea, but I would suspect the legal ramifications of actually doing so would be near impossible.
Look for actors to start laying out their film rights in their wills to prevent this from happening.
To think that Michael Crichton predicted this would happen 25 years ago in his book Rising Sun…Of course, this isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened; besides the Cole virtual duet, anyone remember when Fred Astaire danced with a Hoover vacuum cleaner for a commercial?
